This cooperative was formed in 1984 from an association of 23 founding partners with the name Cooperative Winery of Bricherasio. Grape growing in the Piedmont Pinerolo, the area where this cooperative operates, reflects the main characteristics of grape growing in the Torinese.
First among them is having very small businesses as its production base, businesses whose vineyards often have multiple grape varieties, especially native ones (Avanà, Bequét, Chatus, Doux d’Henry, etc.). The winery was taken over by the Piedmont Winemakers, the largest organisation of wine producers in Italy: 41 cooperative wineries and 397 individual companies, totalling 850,000 hectolitres or 30% of Piedmont wine. The challenge is to create an agricultural future for these mountain valleys, preserving and sustaining the tradition of the area and guaranteeing a dignified income to those who chose to stay and grow grapes.
