Bruno Giacometto is the heir to a long tradition dating back to the sixteenth century. His history is common to many of the Canavese people, straddling industry and agriculture. A computer person forever, first with Olivetti and then with Comdata, he never wanted to leave his secure position and dedicate himself completely to the business of his ancestors, although he always swears that sooner or later he will do so.
The viniculture on his property has always expanded, first with his parents, Giuseppe and Nella, and since 2001 directly under him. The vineyards are located in the best areas in the municipality that gives its name to the wine – Macellio, La Madonna and Sant’Antonino – and are adjacent to 2 hectares of crop land, mostly in maize. While keeping an eye on the past, new technologies have made inroads, and Erbaluce di Calusa takes advantages of the benefits of cryomaceration, especially in terms of flavour. Native black grapes are also grown here.
