The wine production company at the Azeglio Castle is open for business again, returning to its heritage, an ancient tradition that the d’Harcourt family has maintained for centuries. The former home of Massimo d’Azeglio, one of the most illustrious figures in Italian history and the Risorgimento, the castle sits amidst the green of a century-old park next to the farm factories with the winery and about four hectares of grapevines, which are used to produce Erbaluce di Caluso of various kinds.
Careful attention is paid to its environmental impact in implementing cultivation techniques requiring reduced amounts of agrochemicals and fertilisers; permanent grass-growing in the vineyard ensures a constant supply of organic material for the soil, with minimal tillage during the first phases of the system to reduce the number of weeds.
